PVA water soluble laundry bags are made from specially formulated polyvinyl alcohol film, also known as PVOH film. Unlike conventional polyethylene laundry sacks, the film is designed to dissolve or release its contents when exposed to water under specified washing conditions.
These bags are commonly used to collect and transport soiled linen, uniforms, towels, bedding and washable textiles before laundering. Once the sealed bag is placed inside a compatible washing machine, staff do not need to manually open and empty it.
“Water soluble plastic bags” is a common buyer search term for this product. However, the bags are manufactured from water-soluble PVA/PVOH film rather than standard PE plastic film.
Handling contaminated or heavily soiled textiles can expose laundry and care staff to unnecessary contact. A water soluble laundry bag creates a contained collection method from the point of use through to the washing process.
The bag can be filled, securely closed and transferred to the laundry area. Subject to the selected film grade and washing conditions, it dissolves or opens during the wash cycle and releases the contents for cleaning.
