Food waste is something we all deal with and actively try to avoid. While so many folks freeze, package and store their meats, seafood, veggies and leftovers as best as they can, they still manage to go bad after just a few weeks.
This is due to little air pockets in the packaging that cause bacteria to grow. Using the biodegradable vacuum seal bags keeps food fresh during long transit times and in regions with higher temperatures.
The vacuum pouches is made from corn starch, their strength means that as well as being ideal for sous vide cooking, they can also be steam cooked, microwaved, or boiled in a pan.
After use, consumers can remove any non-compostable contents and add the pack to the food waste stream or compost bin. Compostable pouches reportedly take up to six months to disintegrate but can then be used on the garden or vegetable patch.
